Our FocusBeyond adherence to mandatory regulatory standards, our corporate risk management program strives to exceed program and performance objectives of the American Chemistry Councils' Responsible Care® initiative and sound science based risk management practice. These program and performance objectives are linked to specific management practice codes designed to satisfy the guiding principles. The best practices are sustained and continuously improved upon through a Responsible Care Management System® (RCMS®). R.T. Vanderbilt Holding Company, Inc. achieved third party certification of its RCMS® in November, 2006. These codes include: The Employee Health and Safety Code protects employees and visitors at company sites; and to operate our plants and facilities in a manner that protects the environment and the health and safety of our employees and the public. The Process Safety Code is designed to prevent fires, explosions and accidental chemical releases. The Product Stewardship Code makes health, safety and environmental protection an integral part of designing, manufacturing, marketing, distributing, using and recycling and disposing of products. The Distribution Code focuses on reducing employee and public risks from the shipment of chemicals and applies to the transportation, storage, handling, transfer and repackaging of chemicals. The Pollution Prevention Code commits industry to the safe management and reduction of wastes. The Community Awareness and Emergency Response (CAER) Code promotes emergency response planning and calls for ongoing dialogue with local communities. The Security Code enhances the protection of people, property, products, processes and information by enhancing security through the identification and correction of security gaps. This includes enhanced security against potential terrorist attack.
